The demand for DanBred genetics in Belgium keeps increasing and health is becoming a high priority in pig farming.

In order answer to a growing demand DANAPIG BVBA was founded in 2014 by Piet Mestdagh who already distributed Danbred Genetics since 2008.

The choice was made to start up multiplication in Belgium and to produce a gilt for the Belgian market with an optimal health status and a balanced genetic potential. In search of the best genetics to start these multiplication units, we chose to work with SPF-Danmark. SPF has a long time experience with health and genetics in Danmark.( 90% market share in Danmark) and the possibility to us a large pool of boars in Belgium and abroad.

The import of gilts are also assured by SPF -Danmark. We are able to deliver directly or through a quarantine unit.

In 2015 we reinforced our team with Mr. Birger Vanhaerents and in 2017 with Kristof Rodts who takes care of selection and sales.

This and the experience in counselling of our team gives Danbred Belgium an advantage on DANBRED genetics in Belgium.

In order to offer our customers a better service, DANAPIG started in 2014 with 2 multipliers in Belgium who exclusively produce for the Belgian market. Due to the big success of that formula, we added a third multiplier in 2015.

These 3 farms were populated with Danish York (YY) as GPP.

These animals were selected by our own people in Danmark at those nucleus herds.
The Danbred index is very important and the production of YY as F1 ( LL x YY) is professionally guided by DANAPIG BVBA.
The boars for this production are located in different AI -Stations in Belgium and abroad.
The semen is PRRS negative

All these multipliers are supervised by veterinarians every 2 weeks and are screened for APP, Hps, Myc, PRRS, SIV and they are certified lice and mince free, pasteurella DNT rescreened.

The veterinary services are also responsible for the vaccination of the gilts.
